Felt awful for Jude at his awful luck in the first section of the book, now it seems he’s just stupid and keeps making bad decisions. He’s also entirely miserable (not a surprise as he is written by Hardy) but it’s growing hard to stomach the ‘woe is me’ mentality he has going on.

I’m glad Arabella is thriving.

After reading ‘The Last Man’ as my real introduction to Shelley, I find that all her works are tied in, and connect flawlessly with eachother. In her characterization of her main characters I see her and her group of friends in the same way they are represented in the characters of the last man. Each work showcases her beliefs, views, and herself so beautifully, that you can really feel that it is her writing.

I was sure at first that Lionel’s circle would be unaffected by the plagues coming, and thus far it seems to be so, but I hadn’t anticipated the deaths of any members in general. It seemed that Raymond was the expected hero — ambitious, persuasive, morally grey. That Adrian was his polar opposite, the princely character. But it seems Lionel is the unexpected yet needed hero who actually relates to the people.

The parallels of Lionel’s friend group vs Shelley’s own is so good. Lord Raymond is definitely Lord Byron. I fear this works appreciation at its release was severely under appreciated for being the first of its kind in the sci-fi realm.

Every exquisite thing to exist has a tragic story

So good and enthralling, don’t want to put the book down. Kind of worried for the father and the way Carmilla allegedly looks at him with a darkened gaze as if she’s going to off him or something.

I’m so sad for Sybill, I hate the men in this story and how “poetic” they believe everything to be, it’s almost as if they use that as an excuse to be terrible people, by believing it makes them interesting which makes it worth being cruel. The Greek tragedy part is so sick, like what beauty! That poor girl! Men in here are so selfish

The preface itself is so incredibly fruitful, I’m astonished, Oscar Wilde, the man you are!!

I’ve put this book down and picked it up again many, many times. You can’t ignore the discomfort of the dialogue and obvious characters. You can though understand Vanessa, feel bad for her and her lack of, many things while she perceives this wrong relationship. And the everlasting affects an adult can have on a child.

Been loving sassy Harry even though he’s more traumatized Harry. I can’t believe Sirius really looked my boy in the eyes and said “you’re less like James than I thought” like bro bffr. Umbridge is making me have a breakdown,,,again. Ron should kiss Hermione already instead of calling her wonderful wtv. Did I cry when Harry mentioned Ced when the DA suggested by Mione n Ron??? We’ll never know.

Yes I am stalling because I can’t handle Cedric’s death even though I’ve read the books multiple times and watched the movies and know what happens. My will to love depends on his breathing, I can’t.

Knew it was coming but my heart really broke for poor kya when Jodie left her all alone. It’s bittersweet to see the young girl restore her relationship with her father little by little. Especially since he was the reason why everyone left, his abusive tendencies while drunk and carelessness. Everytime she talked about her mother coming back or Jodie it hurt. She’s such a charming young girl though and so witty.

I am deeply disturbed, like I get she’s breve felt so needed and loved. And he says stuff that makes her feel inhumanly beautiful and important. But they’re literally learning about these disturbing like relationships in HIS class and discussing why it’s wrong yet they move forward on pursuing something so disgusting.
