Accidentally skipped this book in my sequential read of the series. Glad I'm doing it now as it sounds like Frank will be involved. He seems to reappear at unexpected moments.🤔

Hmmmm, now where was I?

First impression was oh no, not another story about an unprepared hiker. But now I'm hooked.

Just not engaging with this like I did the Ruth Galloway series.

Only up to chapter xxvi. Returning loan as I'll never finish in 3 days. I plan on purchasing in kindle with some more points.

Oh dear. Library has run out of copies -- Unknown Wait.

A nice change from my usual fare. Starts out terribly sad but gets funnier as it goes...

At first, I was immersed and reminisced of many fond visits to the PNW. The geologic and metal smelting history is very thorough, along with the consistent habit of local politicians to ignore dangerous conditions of all types. But after over 100 pages, it's starting to get rather morbid. The discussion of murders by serial killers was expected, but the other deaths of public figures, etc. Where is this going?

Started out slow, but I became more invested as additional characters and fun adventures were involved. Unfortunately, the main character is starting to do some irritatingly stupid things, and the pages are filling with nothing but conversation. Not sure if I will finish...

Round 2 from the library. Let's see if I can remember what this is about...

Yes, GR friends recommended it, but another Sherlock Holmes mystery series? Oh my gosh, I'm so hooked already. Don't read the book summary and just dive in! Such a fun ride already.

Do I like this or not? The animal POV is throwing me for a loop. And I didn't realize it's over 400 pages. Three days until the library pulls it back...

Finally, the Civil War is over. Grant was incredibly humane in dealing with Lee and the Confederate army.

Plenty of copies available from the library so I can take my time with finishing. 😃

At first, all the details about the characters and family history were entertaining. After several more pages, I started wondering where we were going with all this? Then I started having flashbacks to The House in the Cerulean Sea...

DNF. I knew I was in trouble when I started skimming after only a few pages. It just wasn't grabbing me.

This reminds me of the Scorpius Syndrome series. It takes place in a future earth after society has been destroyed due to a catastrophic event. The remaining humans survive in small groups and are constantly battling one another for resources.

Loan ran out on ebook. Looks like 12 weeks before I get it back...

Hard to get myself to read about these really sad sack characters during the holidays. Things just started to improve but alas my ebook loan is expiring and others are waiting. Looks like I'll get it back in about 6 weeks. Sigh!

This seems awfully familiar--maybe I've read it before.

Only 4 days left on the loan and I know it won't get finished any time soon. I'll come back to it when I have fewer irons in the fire.

Darn. Coming down the home stretch with this 700+ page ebook and the library had to pull it back. Looks like I'll get it back in about 14 weeks. Sure is popular for something written in 2013!

I think I'm going to put this down for awhile. I am about halfway through and all the stories are pretty dark. No humor as of yet to break the intensity of many of these shorts. I picked it up to augment my reading of the Cainsville series but ended up especially intrigued with the Otherworld stories. Most of them serve as intro to what would be great books! Kelley has an incredible imagination.

Currently not in the right mood to read this book but plan to read it at a later date. I had it on hold for several weeks to borrow from library and was surprised that there was no one waiting for it's return.
