That’s the most mind bending sci-fi book I read in my life! The imagination of the author is out of this world. If all the book is as good as these 55 first page it will definitely become my favorite sci-fi book and in my top 3 favorite book of all time

Le thème de l’homme devant la mort est le thème principale. Dans la mort d’Ivan Illitch, la mort est le choc qui libère le protagoniste d’une vie qui porte en elle les stigmates d’une mort encore pire: la mort de l’âme. Le mot mensonge revient très souvent dans le récit. Le seul à ne plus mentir est Ivan Illitch, car on ne ment pas à la mort. Très bonne première histoire!

À mes yeux, jusqu'à présent, ce livre est un chef-d'œuvre littéraire.

More book should include before the story a little bit of the author history and the context in which the book was written to help us understand the book better

je n'est pas moi story line is interesting. I feel like instead of reading about how Russia was back in the days, I experience it! I think that to understand something and create your own perception on the matter. I need to the first be expose to multiple perceptions on the matter. This book do this well by showing us different social classes and how they live and interact with others.

Chiang is talking about a how someone life is predetermine or not which is a subject that I'm still undecide as whether I more on Spinoza side which is that our life our deterministic or on Sartre side... It's a very thought question considering that at a large enough scale (the universe), we can know future events by studying the past events. However, on a human scale we cannot predict is future and how he will die.
