DNF...Why did I not finish?

Tanwen wants to work at the capital, explore the world, and have a comfortable life. We all want something like this. I wasn't sure why she was the main character since there were others all like her.

I am sure it will link to her being the heir to the throne or something. Signs point to that. But in that case, I still do not see why it PERSONALLY matters to her.

Just started this in the evening yesterday and had to make myself go to sleep, otherwise, this book would have been done. Love the characters! Love the pacing! Love this concept!

So far loving how Joy is searching for God and she's seeking answers from Lewis about God.

The author is writing from Germany soon after World War 2 and interestingly when you'd think they would be super focused on rebuilding this man writes about the importance of leisure.

Reading by audio instead of paper makes it harder for me to evaluate a book, but I will try. So Erik's material here is spot on, however, I'm thinking I'll have to listen through it again to understand his flow of thought. Why does he write it one way and not another type of thing.

Is there a reason he presents topics in the order he does? Again, I think listening to it instead of reading it is throwing me off.

What do I think about thinking? It is a great thing to do every so often.

This book requires pausing between sentences due to the amount of words I'm having to look up. Loving it!

I'm listening and realizing I'm definitely going to have to go back through this in depth. Great study questions with pairing Scripture.

"...the sermon of the mount, 'Live like this and you will become Christian'; rather we are told, 'Because you are Christian live like this.' This is how Christians ought to live; this is how Christians are meant to live."

So pithy and just digging in.

"We cannot rely solely upon subjective experiences because there are evil spirits as well as good spirits; there are counterfeit experiences. Here, in the Bible, is our sole authority."

This was a truth that I believed in my head but it took a while to get to my heart. Love this book! And it's just getting started.

Beginning it this way makes me excited to dig into the Sermon on the Mount

"I'm an unbeliever. And so are you."

Our book's beginning grips a hold of your pride. You want to argue, I believe.

But that's not the point. Yes the gospel saves you eternally in a moment, but then it goes on to save from condemnation, freeing us "to overcome sin, fear, and insecurity" in our everyday existence.

To be gospel fluent, we need Jesus.

I must admit that the reason I picked up this book was because it was so cute and small. However, I am glad I did. DeMille's writing style is captivating.

Love how Lewis has us figure out on our own that Ransom is not on Earth anymore.

First fiction book I've started since September last year. I am having a slow start but I like where it is going.

Just thought of this - Jurassic Park was interesting because we have different world views in conflict. We see the point almost right away that you don't mess with dinosaurs. It's in the title - humans turning serious animals into a park for their own recreational purposes. Awesome. Neatly tied up. Now, I hope to see some such themes here, but so far no luck. Fun adventure though.

So I've been dragging my feet with this one. Why? It's an adventure, and I'm craving some techno thrill and something with weather storms always. I think I started this book right after I saw Jurassic World. Must be why I chose it.

Elias doesn't feel real as a character to me yet. The relationships feel too rushed. Otherwise, I am excited to see where the science bit is going.

If I read as much as I worried, I would have read my entire TBR list and plus.

Sometimes, after reading a book that is well thought out and researched, I find it hard to start a new young adult book.

I have been restlessly going through books and not finishing. Pretty sure this is the one though. Loving it so far!

I have lost interest around this area. After thinking about it, I think it's because his dad is not around and their training is not really exciting for me. I sadly like cheering for underdogs, so I kind of want our main guy to fail so I can cheer him on over his obstacles. I do not feel nor see challenges for him. I will trudge through this spot to the fun that is hopefully coming.

This book is bringing me out of my slump. I love boos that bring interesting new tech ideas

This book has reviews all over the rating scare. Can't wait to find my own opinion. ;)

Love story. Mermaids. Given high reviews. Say no more. I’m reading it.

Great ending, and cannot wait for the second one.

Tommy's side is drawing some interest for me now.

First chapter and I want to read more. However, it is my designated Barnes & Noble read for before and after work. Helps me save my money.

Hmm. Things are getting interesting with Liza. But so far as Tommy's POV, I am just not as invested in him.
