Read #4: I thought this phase would pass quicker

Two things of note:
1. Jenny Walser did the narration for the version on Libby
2. The version on Libby is the 2023 updated (less fun) version where Alice took out the really problematic lines

@susanmetallo I dropped the book my hands were so happy

:ooo hearts on the table

Croatia reference @Naomi

"I have been reading my various printed articles over to-night. I wonder if I shall ever be able to do anything with my pen. Dr. Stovel assured me that I would but that was only a guess. If I could only manage to get a little more education! But that seems impossible. I wish I could peep into my future for a moment---"

So bored of Edward Rochester's dialogue that I actually managed to get my earring to finally unscrew

Din no no Din sweetie pie no go home and reflect on your actions

Sam the scractoe

Just to set the record straight I've had this book on my want to read since 2024

I'm so sorry Rick but what are you doing????

Which is less legal: dedicating a book to one of your characters or quoting another one of your characters in the epigraph

The neices and even nephews joke is literally one of my favorite things in the world it applies to so many things

Thanks George, I didn't know that skipping pages was allowed. Although you could have told me that a few chapters ago

The only thing motivating me to get through this book is my desire to be better than you

"Tender and flaky and sweet and good"

This feels like a dark version of cat in the hat. Weird old guy with one article of clothing and a magical object takes two children away from home to learn lessons and follow his weird made up rules

Twilight reference?

I forgot Jo doesn't marry Laurie :(

20 minutes and 78 pages

"Beth played her gayest march" you can just say Jo

Ok I'll give Amy one point for that that's pretty good

The overuse of unnecessary descriptive words has gone too far how can something smell slimy

If the dog talks for the rest of the book the rating is going down a star

Big sisters in contemporary young adult books are literally the best there's like no bad examples

I forgot just how much I loved Kade

The guy reading the audiobook does not have enough respect for Ronan Lynch if they think he speaks like that

"Cornelia Bryant was never so kerflummuxed before." -Miss Cornelia

I sympathize with Anne. She, like many young girls, dreamed of living in a palace, but I guess we ultimately just have to "settle down contentedly in eight-room houses." So sad.

No way Anne has a phone now
