This is turning into quite the love triangle, which is more than I bargained for, especially as it’s one of my least favorite tropes and so far this story isn’t changing my mind. I hope I come to enjoy this more, but it’s difficult when I prefer the man I know the heroine doesn’t choose.

Oh dear, barely over a chapter into this book, and already I dislike the characters and the writing style, not to mention it's full of all the reasons I usually avoid YA Contemporary novels-- the prose is riddled with swearing, vulgarity, and drug use, plus I've never related to the teenage mindset this portrays. I do love mysteries so I'll push forward for now, but unfortunately I'm already tempted to abandon it.

I'm really enjoying this! I've always loved Alice in Wonderland, and so far Marissa Meyer's take on this unique world and its characters is delightful (particularly the Cheshire Cat), not to mention there's baking! (I absolutely adore baking!) At about the halfway point, I can't imagine how Catherine, who is extremely likable, will become the Queen of Hearts. I'm almost too scared to continue reading and find out!
