I adore reading Haitian stories, and I am sure I’ll read this entire novel today. It is already very sad and I’ve only been reading for an hour or two. The fast-paced and simple (but still artistic and sometimes lyrical) writing style makes for a quick, engaging reading experience. I won’t be surprised if I cry while reading this one.

One of the best audio books I have ever listened to. I am really enjoying the multiple POVs (especially Tova and Marcellus) and the writing style!

So I have some questions (and multiple hypotheses and fears) about what’s going on… I’m so into this story so far and I need to keep reading until I know everything.

My wife and I are both listening to the audio book before we go see the movie! So nostalgic :)

Such an endearing and cute lesbian relationship hehe. I have enjoyed this story, it’s been easy and sweet to listen to (Spotify audio book).

Teenage boy POV is not quite my taste— however, I must admit, there is wit within the crude, rude, and raunchy Will Graysons. So far I prefer David Levithan’s Will (will grayson) over John Green’s Will (Will Grayson), but they each have their own issues of course. The playwright Tiny Cooper is quite the character as well. Now that I’ve reached the crossroads of Will squared, the plot is growing my interest.

This story has me hooked. There’s nothing like a manic, overwhelmed, but capable woman devolving into a crazed, obsessed manipulator who only acts in ways that serve her own purposes. Her husband has just been a pawn in her pursuits, but the plot keeps thickening now, and I’m almost done with the book. How will it end? Idk, but Marisa Kashino can write!

I have read the first 10 chapters, and the story is set up right now for so much impending intensity. I can feel Margo’s breaking point approaching with every development in the plot… The pace is starting to pick up and I’m excited to see how everything unfolds.

I started listening to the audio book on Spotify narrated by Robert Petkoff. I’m reminded of Zadie Smith’s “White Teeth” and Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman.” So poignant for the 2020s! Despite its thought provoking nature, the novel is an easy read (listen) so far.

I’m so frustrated with how much is unsaid and not fully realized between Marianne and Connell. If they could be direct and honest with themselves and each other, they would see how POINTLESS their relationship’s strife and suffering are. (Side note: Really engaging writing so far and I already know this is a story that will stick with me for a while)
