i’m obsessed with medea now. my beautiful, obsessive, powerful and incredibly controversial queen. she’s fucked up in the brain and i completly adore her for it <3

the cast of characters, especially hai’s coworkers, are all so diverse and distinct. it’s been incredibly fun and sometimes both heartwrenching and heartwarming to read about their shenanigans. i feel like they would work so perfectly in a tv show, i can almost envision it.

as for what’s currently going on with hai and grazina, both separately and together… i’m destroyed. i hope hai grows a fkn backbone.

if grazina ends up dying by the end of this novel the gun will go off by itself

the language is so lyrical and beautiful. i also enjoy all of the switch back between first, second and third person to each represent something different. i’m especially liking the first person exposing the thoughts of characters that aren’t necessarily pivotal or significant to us, the readers. makes me really feel like this is the story of a country, and not just of a cast of characters.
