After reading Liberation Day, I decided to go back to this, Saunders' first short story collection, to see how it contrasted. Man, what a ride. Funny, disturbing and wrought with distopic fever dreams. There's thematic connective tissue between these two collections, but I'd say Liberation Day is a bit more nuanced. This is wild and raw, with relentless jokes and freaky details that keep you on your back foot. Loved.
