This is the weirdest thing I've ever read, I think, and I've read crack fics 🤣 but its fun

This is spooks in a way I haven't read before. I'm still very new to horror books, so this is on another level for me. I started with J.R. Erickson, a nice soft start, imo, the" Dear Celeste" series was really good.

"The Staircase in the Woods" has to the beginning been a slow ramping up the tension until it is touchable. And it's dark in another way than "Come home, Katie" felt like.
But I like it.

I'm a bit annoyed that all the guys through the series calls their love interests "sweetheart". It's cute, but I would have liked it better if they had different ones, to add a little more personalty. Especially since these books are set in the same "universe" and in the same friendgroup.

I'm just about to start reading this.
I love slow burns, but I'm really sad that the reverse harem part and the romance part really only starts in the last 2 books (I'm guessing, since I've only just finished the 7th). I really enjoy a good slow burn, but I really want a satisfying result of all that waiting and anticipation. Now, it may still be, but I wanted to get my thoughts out while I remember them.
