molly is the best, this is the coolest book ever.
my favourite story of all time and it’s BEAUTIFUL AND COLOURFUL AND FULL OF PICTURES AND INTERACTIVE PAGES

finished the first part (ie. the first book)

a raw and honest insight into the horrific realities of the Holocaust and beyond

loving the perspective gradually shifting as she realises she’s losing control over the situation (or never had it to begin with)

love her writing style. pleading the fifth on all other aspects of the book.

a mark of a great book is genuinely not wanting to put it down, but being forced to because you have places to be in the morning. reassured only by the fact that going to sleep now will give you more time tomorrow to continue its reading.

obsessed with O’Farrell’s writing style. “a rare talent to enthrall” is so beyond correct

feeling simultaneously so much love and frustration for Suleiman. also feeling maternal towards both him and his mother

i’m SO into this

my bad, i got the edition wrong. and the audiobook is so drastically different from the book (which i also have) that i can’t justify leaving my reading progress on the wrong one. but anyway the audiobook is pretty good. she rambles tangentially a lot which is why it’s so wildly separated from the physical copy

loving it so far. only stopping because i am HUNGRY and have read so many things today my brain aches

contending with wanting to speed through the story to find out what happens next and never wanting it to end

every moment i get i’m grabbing hold of this to read. twenty mins before bed, three mins at the bus stop, thirty mins on the tube. even thirty seconds in the lift.

easy reading.

nothing like actually getting a moment to sit down and read for more than a chapter at a time.
have to admit i totally forgot that people outside of my lecturer can be called orkideh, so reading that name and then her becoming a key part of the story was a wee bit of a shock.
really enjoying so far and liking the addition of poems etc to break up sections

i am really enjoying this book. gut wrenching and raw so far but in a way that is so engaging you can’t turn away
