How on God's green earth was I supposed to understand this when I was 14?

Pure pulp goodness

I've been wanting to retry this series for some years.

This is afoul, I knew it oils be awe full, but wow is it ever awful.

Maybe one of the most reviled books of the latter half on the 20th century. Written by a self-professed white separatist, it is without a doubt a racist book. While everyone is reading their dog-eared copies of a handmaid's tale I figured I would read this bitter little dystopian screed. It's poorly written, paced well, and very very very racist. That's my report so far.

I'm enjoying this, not because it's good, but because it's not good. I love Patti Smith at the top of her game, so this is a nice intimate look at a mind unguarded. It makes me feel better about my own writing and showcases the bravery it take not only to do the hard work, but also to whittle down the work to essence. It's a nice bit of writing about writing.

Prescient, cynical in a good way, blasphemous also in a good way. A great winter-fireside read.
