Started this last night and I remember being unimpressed with the first one even though it was enjoyable. But this one feels very different from the quality of her other works. Some of the dialogue is just really cringe.

Have to end at 71% cause I’m over it. Idk what the hell is going on and I’m tired. Idk how I can get this far and not care about a single character

I’m about 1/4th through this and utterly confused. The plot is all over the place, and with the multiple languages, lore, and social hierarchy…it’s too much too soon. Now she’s got soul ties and someone wants to marry her?? Plus we’re just gonna jump past the attempted rape??? I’m lost

Sparked and interesting discussion about childhood religiosity and belief yesterday that I’m not sure I’ve previously considered. Not convinced I’m “enjoying” the book though

I forgot how unrealistic the central conflict is in this book. Them ghosting her and being angry bc they didn’t know her ex was famous, when they knew everything else and it made literally no difference. The cold shoulders were so unacceptable I would not forgive. I would have left

After a hectic set of weeks, I desperately needed a cozy place to land. Rereading this was a BEST idea I’ve had in a while 😌

Happy to report I cannot predict where the story is going, and I haven’t been able to predict where the story was going for most of the book. I’m in love.
