Or hear me out maybe they just CBA to shave, or like the aesthetic or can't access/afford razors at the moment. I assume with your low funds also haven't prioritised hair removal so would have some understanding.

It's just a very strange thought that seems to summarise for me my current issues with the writing.

Doing a pause on this while I read through the books I'm enjoying more. I'm comparing the feeling I'm having wot other books (a possible new all time fave) and that is doing a disservice to this book and not giving it a fair chance. So will return when I have finished some books on my currently reading.

I'm reading slowly. The MC is not my vibe, but every time I think I'm gonna give up the magic system is explained further and it's so interesting and unique.

Literally the page before you find out the school was founded 4 years ago, so where is this long lost knowledge from? I'm getting frustrated with all the unnecessary metaphors that don't make sense most of the time and the inconsistent lore. It has till page 150 to convince me or get DNF'd which is sad.

It is so refreshing to read about a plus sized fantasy heroine who is confident and badass. I'm not far in but I am hooked and really enjoying the slow world building and the character building!

Why did I just spend so long reading a long tangent about masturbation, finances, rig set up the political climate and really problematic views on women? It has added nothing to the narrative and has really messed with the pacing.

The beginning was just references, teen boy angst, and Exposition. I didn't need to know his kink is ukele's and nerdy girls. It's started to get interesting now that the plot is going but if the character says one more time that they were prepared for this because of their hyper fixation then I may scream. We get it you're an expert in the 80's and Halliday's life'we don't need reminding every 3 pages.

Halfway through and waiting for it to get interesting...
