Just finished the Epilogue:
*I love the ending so much. I feel its the perfect amount of time after Emmy is born so that she truly is ready to start things up again with Atlas.
* The questions she asks him are adorable. They give her reassurance ab trusting someone again while also being important questions that need answers.
*I do agree with the debate of having another book w/Atlas and Lily.

Just finished Chapter 35:
*I love how she asked him what if it was their own daughter; That is such a powerful question bc the obvious answer would be to leave them but Ryle was so blinded by his hope for Lily's forgiveness that he didn't see the position she was in.
*Lily had the strength to leave him, if not for herself than for her daughter. She cared ab Ryle enough to not let her daughter see him at his worse.

Just finished Chapter 34:
*I like that they're making progress in regards to what will happen in the future.
*I also have concerns for how Ryle will treat the baby. He didn't willingly/ want to hurt Lily but he still did, what makes him so sure he won't hurt the child. How can he be sure that he's not going to when he can't control his own emotions/actions. This is a large red flag in the debate of Ryle as a father.

Just finished Chapter 33:
*When Lily temporarily had her guard down, Ryle jumps at the chance to sort of manipulate her into forgiving him. He shouldn't be expecting her to be open to talk ab things let alone try to hug her when she's already so conflicted with her feelings. He should respect her and himself enough to not be begging for forgiveness every time she takes a baby step towards working through it.

Just finished Chapter 32:
*I love the mother's reaction. She understands Lily's position more than anyone and can give her the advice she needed or just be a listener. This discussion between them also helps to change Lily's thoughts towards her mother and helps her to see her side. While I do think the comparison between the 2 situations is unhealthy, there is a certain similarity to them that Lily can gain from.

Just finished Chapter 31:
*I don't understand how some pregnant women don't do a bunch of research before the baby is born. I get Lily's circumstances are different and even though she loves the baby, she's not necessarily excited. But especially if I was going with the mindset that I'd be a single parent I would want to know everything there is to know about babies, so I can provide them with the best life.

Just finished Chapter 30:
*Ryle is so selfish. To ask Lily to help him make things right after everything he did to her is beyond me. As if she should be responsible for picking up his broken pieces when he broke her more than he ever was. If Ryle even cared ab Lily in the 1st place he would break things off after the 1st incident. But bc HE was happy with her he didn't even though he was causing her physical pain.

Just finished Chapter 29:
*If my brother did what Ryle did to Lily I would never forgive him. I wouldn't even speak to him. I don't know why Alyssa isn't more harsh towards Ryle and have him take accountability for his actions instead of just excusing it bc of his past. Just bc theres a reason doesn't make it ok or that it can happen again. Maybe if Ryle dealt with the consequences he wouldn't make the same mistake.

Just finished Chapter 28:
*I hate how Atlas never feels like he's good enough for Lily. No matter whether he was fresh out of the Marines, or owns his own successful restaurant, he still thinks it's not enough.
*All he wants is for her to be happy, no matter the cost for him. Although lying was not the right thing to do, it's such an Atlas thing to do. If Lily's happy he will find a way to be happyish, without her.

Just finished Chapter 27:
*It is so sad that she had to be so afraid in her own business about her HUSBAND walking in. She shouldn't have to ever be afraid of someone that close to her, and the second she thought she was would've been a red flag. If you're in the early stages of a relationship and start to feel unsafe only imagine what a year from now would look like. Sometimes it's hard to see past the passion.

Just finished Chapter 26:
*The only place where the blame should be is Ryle. Not Atlas, not Lily, not Lily's mother for christ's sake. I understand Lily's confusion and wanting to place the blame on others, mostly herself, but until she realizes that it is 100% Ryle's fault she won't actually be able to leave him/forgive herself(for the blame she puts on herself for getting herself into that situation).

Just finished Chapter 25:
*I feel like the letter was really needed to connect the past with the present. The only thing we had was Atlas, and I hate to say it but he's pretty much a minor character. The letter was a great way to see how Lily would describe her current situation but in a way that's familiar to the readers. In a way, the journal is brought full circle and Lily also feels like she can confide in it.

Just finished Chapter 24:
*Finding out Lily is pregnant is heartbreaking. She was just at a place with Ryle where she might have welcomed that idea and was even going home that night to start trying. And to find out she's pregnant after it all went down, is so cruel bc it shows what she could've had. The baby also makes it even harder for her to leave Ryle in the first place bc now theirs the matter of custody.

Just finished Chapter 23:
*I hate how Ryle just keeps apologizing and telling Lily he loves her after the fact. He's just making it worse and instead of being taken aback by what he did he starts making excuses right off the bat.
*The whole thing when he was calm was freaky bc he seemed to be in control and less angry, almost like he was aware enough to plan just what he would have her do.

Just finished Chapter 22:
*Why was Ryle so casual about his sister going into labor?! Idk if he was trying to make a joke or but I do not understand that.
*Very scared to read the next chapter; Might have to take a few breaks.
*Their relationship is a cycle of ups and down where the lows are very low and the highs feel very high; This again is not a good ex. of a healthy relationship.

Just finished Chapter 21:
*Ryle should not have bought an apartment as a surprise.It was immature to not discuss it first.
* Lily said that they needed the incident in the stairway to happen so that Ryle would tell her ab his past. But he could have just told her; like he didn't need to push her down the stairs
*Ryle also shouldn't put his career above Lily's and just assume she can pack away her whole life.

Just finished Chapter 20:
*Their relationship was unhealthy and toxic from the start. The lies, the confusion, and most of all the dependency, is not a good example of a healthy relationship.
*Lily thought that bc she was raised in an abusive household, she would be able to leave but if anything it's the opposite. She keeps comparing the 2 and justifying Ryle, when in reality neither situation is considered healthy.

Just finished Chapter 20:
*When she saw how angry he was she had 2 thoughts; he was going to leave or he was going to hurt her. He started to leave and then she chased after him and I get that it was a misunderstanding but why did she try and resist him from leaving and cooling down when the other option was him hurting her. I'm not blaming her bc he shouldn't have done that but if she felt unsafe why pursue him.

Just finished Chapter 18:
*I think wanting to marry someone is different from being ready to marry someone. This sort of thing shouldn't be an impulsive decision no matter if you want a lowkey wedding.
*This was a very impulsive decision over something as big as legal bondage to a person. They've been together for 1/2 year and have hardly talked ab anything serious in their relationship,

Just finished Part 1 and Chapter 17:
*I'm really curious for why Atlas never tried to find Lily(After his first attempt ofc.) Maybe he didn't feel like his life was good enough or that she would be happier without him, but it's obvious he never moved on from her.
*Lily could've tried to find him too. She even lived in Boston after all. But she never did and if their love was so great why wouldn't she?

Just finished Chapter 16:
*That was the perfect, most thoughtful gift he could give. The fact that he's held on to that not knowing if he would ever see her again, or even got it in the first place a whole 6 years after the last time he saw her is adorable.
*AND he came TO HER STORE to apologize for the insult ab her mother. Not about the fight. Not about what he said about Ryle. But bc he felt bad for what he said.

Just finished Chapter 15:
*Lily is telling Atlas he's wrong but he's not. Ryle did use force against Lily and she is hurt. She got defensive over it but Atlas was just trying to help.
*Ryle is going to use the excuse of him not wanting the relationship in the first place whenever something goes wrong. When he says that it's so easy to be with her he makes it seem like that's the only reason why.

Just finished Chapter 14:
*This is where it starts. Or where it all goes wrong.
*I was so uncomfortable reading about them making love after it all happened. I understand why, but I didn't want to read it if that makes sense.
*When she is comparing Ryle to her father and she thinks he's nothing like him, that's probably how it started for them too. Just a small accident that turns into a lifetime of mistakes.

Just finished Chapter 13:
*That whole stethoscope thing was weird.
*As I am re-reading this, I am aware of the "plot twist" of what happened with Ryle and Emerson. Ryle said he had a good relationship with his mother but in the beginning of the book, he used the same example. He was angry at the parents, and I assumed he was angry at his own. He did hint that there was some rough patches so maybe they got over it.

Just finished Chapter 12:
* When Alyssa was telling they story of how she and Marshall met it was kinda cringe:/
*We also learned about the infamous older brother.
*Also when Ryle introduced himself to Lucy as Lily's boyfriend and Lily was super happy, that reminded me of a middle school relationship. Like aren't they in their 20s? I know Ryle didn't want to date but the whole scene was a little immature.

Just finished Chapter 11:
*Sadly the journal entries are coming to an end with only one left.
*It was heartbreaking to read about Lily's mother and her making excuses for her husband but bc I've read the book, I have greater understanding of why.
*We got a peak at Atlas' love for cooking which later turns into Bibs.
(I meant Chapter 11 on my last update)

Just finished Chapter 8:
*Atlas finally appears in Lily's current life!
*Alyssa was acting suspicious about Ryle and Lily(foreshadowing?)
*Lily is still kinda hung up on the fact that Ryle is a neurosurgeon and maybe she's assigned these roles to him like doctor, handsome, and rich, that make it hard to see who he really is.
*Atlas saying he wishes they met earlier was kinda weird being that he has a gf and all.
