Beautiful so sad

Beautiful, emotion filled writing. Every word truly counts.

So eloquently written. Every detail matters forcing the reader to slow down, examine, and look back at the events, conversations, and person. Seems like this is done on purpose to reenact the same actions the main character is doing. Slowing down and examining the past and details as she wishes to time travel.

Enticing but I can’t focus in the environment I’m in sadly

Such a deviation from the mystery novel trope! Always laughing and surprised with every scene.

Okay this chapter has been amazing. I’ve nagged and complained so much about the characters and writing. How all the anxiety and depression was too much without relief. And here is the relief. So beautiful, poetic, and perfect for Casey and for the reader to feel everything Casey was feeling the good and the bad. The writing and inspiration has been nothing short of amazing. Beautiful despite the rough climb to it.

Okay so Caleb cheated in Boston. She finally goes and sees a shrink and lets all that shit out fucken finally lol. She gets the job at the school yay. Oh and she breaks up with Oscar who everyone knew was a douche anyways.

School interview goes bad, Silas comforts Casey after she spills the beans but tells her he knows about Oscar. All of a sudden Caleb, her brother shows up and they’re going to spread the remaining ashes. And oh yeah Casey/Camila doesn’t have cancer.

Really nice child mother experience.. enjoyed the softness and details. Oscar’s a dick.

Casey gets fired after sexual/physical harassment at work. She has a mental breakdown and rants about evil man and idolizing her mom. She says the story Silas wrote reminds her of her mom. I like the story and plot and messages but I’m just so done with the mental breakdown/pessimism character trait after the previous book I finished. So I’m just not in the mood for it but I get it. I was expecting more fun.

Oscar is a narcissist asshole like we all thought he was lol (bookstore reading). Casey and Oscar sleep together. She doesn’t like him or it and doesn’t want to be at his home but she reads Silas manuscript and the roughness of the story sticks with her and she takes it and sees her life differently because of the proposal under the tree. Casey connected with Vera Oscar’s ex a lot. Oscar reminds Casey ofherdad.

Woo! Camila aka Casey receives a call from Jennifer the assistant to the agent of her favorite author who wants to take on her book how exciting but her negativity is killing me!!! I shouldn’t have read this book after the catcher in the rye lol.

Casey has a beautiful prayer in this chapter a panic attack that caused the prayer and reveals the meaning to her name mighty Casey who struck out when it mattered most!

Silas fumbles. Casey getting evicted. Oscar offers her to live with him. The kids are all for it. Everyone wants it except her and she’s afraid things are moving too fast. Oh yeah he book got rejected 3 times. She’s holding a lot that she doesn’t want to expose she says. I like the successive flow of the short chapters. It gets the plot going smoothly and not too slow or fast. Bigger chapters for bigger scenes.

Casey might have cancer. Friends gossip about who she should pick. Oscar has her over for dinner and she acts like a mom towards the kids teaching and playing with them. She likes the idea of having kids. I really enjoyed the writing in these chapters. Very personable, intimate, and fun. As if I’m slowly talking with a friend.

She finishes the book and writes the difficult scene!!!! Her dad and stepmom show up to the restaurant, they’re horrible people and want to buy the ring her mom/grandmother gave her. She refuses.

Memories! I loved these books growing up. Very compact and fast action curious story telling. Jack and Annie are examples of us as children cautious kind smart brave curious. I enjoy reading this like the first time again!

Bringing me back to when I started my healing journey!!!! Some deep stuff. He puts it in direct words that I can’t always express well but I know the feeling all too well.

Cassie and Silas kiss finally!!!!! Make out sesh they say some cheesy poetic stuff that was actually kinda nice. And they get more vulnerable and romantic.

Silas comes back and takes her on a couple humble dates I think Casey is in love with him and not Oscar Oscar seems to want to rebuild a broken home and is kind of a douche Muriel reads Casey’s manuscript and approves tells her to write the rape scene because emotions are what matters when writing a story Casey reflects on her life/trauma and begins towards that direction

Oscar and Casey go on a date. Bob the Dog! Oscar doesn’t date writers. They kiss. Reminisce about losing his wife and her losing her mother. They say some poetic stuff. Oscar leaves a message on her machine. Casey plays it back 3 times, giggles, and deletes it. It’s not going to work…

Casey shares about her pedo dad, her health crisis, so many names I can’t keep track in the book, a cheesy overused complaint about people planning a year in advance, and then finally gets to talk to Oscar. Age difference not bad, they are both relieved. Feels like I’m listening to an annoying friend when I read sometimes hahaha but I enjoy it overall. It’s really personal and I appreciate that.

I’ve shifted my perspective over this book. I enjoy it more now as if it were a true story. Someone truly trying to write their own book. Not of a made up character. Casey she tended to Oscar’s table with his boys. The author she did not fancy a couple months ago with her friend Muriel. The brunch chef sexually harassed Casey. Fuck that guy. Oscar and Casey get along well. He invites her to golf with his boys.

She finishes a first draft of her book! It was a more cheerful chapter than usual. Car accident prompts her to be proactive with her insurance and her writing. She flips a switch in her mind. And so do I :)
