I have several possible thoughts on what will happen from here.
Spoilers possible: Mikkis love interest is love bombing her, most likely leading to possible abuse before ending up with her ex husband again.
The person who hit the author brother is the ex con who works for Ashley.
Ashley will end up with David.
Not sure about the last one other then eventually falling for the brother.
