I’m convinced that Penelope has never met a teenager, been in a high school (sorry, teachers don’t just let their students pull up a search image to immediately project in screen in the middle of class w/out previewing it), or read Lolita

The magic system is poorly explained and I have no idea why Esther cares even the slightest about Kire or Kiron

The writing is weird. Some lines are beautiful and then some jump around and expect us to fill in the blanks of the story that we don’t know. And some weird anachronisms.

I feel like the things in this book that are supposed to be “horrific” just …. Aren’t??

I’m really disappointed…. I was hoping to live jones. But his writing is so frantic and chopped and doesn’t make sense

The babysitter lives- super annoying… the house within a house was so confusing that I was getting bored…. Which is a shame because the ending seemed interesting! But I didn’t understand a lick of what was happening. And too many things felt like a chaotic fever dream. 2/5
