I know I'm near the end, but this is a confusing story. I think the issue is me trying to force an existing or historic event onto a fantastical story??
I don't dislike, but maybe this is just not for me.

The overall story is still fine, but the objectification of women continues to be overwhelmingly gross.

Glad I got this for free. It's not so bad (so far) that I won't finish, but it's very casually sexist and, if not 100% racist, at the very least, problematic.

I checked this out of the library because I enjoyed Cherie Priest's steampunk novels. I wasn't sure what would be done with the Lizzie Borden story but figured I would give it a try. 180 pages in and this is so scary! It's the insidious creep that gets in your mind and stays there. I'm glad I picked this up.
