dude this has been such a ride. this book should be referenced in how to make your characters feel alive without being so long.

i am quite interested in this premise so far. starting off at the end and slingshotting back to how it all started? will almost always have my interest piqued

the prose has been fun and the character seems to be interesting

no. nope. nuh uh. i absolutely hate wenzhi. this gorgeous world is irrevocably tainted by their relationship.

i care very much what happens in this book but if this is setting up for her to eventually get with wenzhi in the end i’m going to be SO mad.

i just don’t like wenzhi 😭 he gives me bad vibes, like he believes he *deserves* her or smth

i swear if they come to her rescue—she can handle herself she’s a soldier

maybe i’m just bitter but the way the prince has treated her vs the way her captain (? whatever he is) treated her is just..he’s a lot more thoughtful and understanding. i’m not a big fan of the way the captain acts with her. it’s like he doesn’t see her as her half the time. i’m not seeing the chemistry or the relationship outside of their weird ass work one (which is another thing, he’s her superior)
