Like the other Verghese books, I’ve read , it’s a requirement to read his books with Google nearby. Learned a lot about mid-20th century Ethiopian medical practices and historical/cultural references. Tender family relationships explored, immigration and medical training examined, plot intricacies kept me guessing. Love the writing of Verghese.
