Fabulous. Took a break to get caught up on Saga, then a bunch of Zach Kaplan and James Tynion comic series. Some really good stuff out there.

Going to try to stay focused here and finish this book! Loving every moment

Its only the second time in this series (other being deadhouse) - ive had to backtrack and am re-reading all of part 2 up to the point i was at.

That was an abrupt pacing switch from Karsa’s coming of age following two or three characters for the first 25% of the book back to the MASSIVE cast of marines etc

Im digging how this one is coming together. This is taking place now clearly at the same time as the events of book two Deadhouse Gates. I’m really loving the tie ins to events and characters within that story. Actually really makes me want to reread Deadhouse Gates.

Im realllly enjoying the tale of karsa thus far. Its bold of Erikson to
1) stick to focusing on one main storyline for longer than a single chapter let alone 25% of the book so far
2) commit to a main character for this long who is rather dislikable on the moral side given some of the horrific stuff hes done

Picking up right where the butlerian jihad left off. Ridiculously short (some are 4-5 pages?!) chapters but chalk full of events and detail.

Frankly i dont get the hate this duo of authors get. Different writing style than Frank Herbert - of course!! but Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson’s writing within the Dune universe work well for me.

Makin my way through it. I hit the point I knew I’d eventually hit with MoI - serious headscratching and backtracking to read previous chapters to understand how something that I perceived as A suddenly became Z!

I’ll say this: Malazan definitely challenges the reader’s tendency to generalize or prejudge a character’s alignment!!

I’m bracing for an epic ending, will be disappointed if it ends in a thud
