“For in the heat of their lust and yearning, they seemed to possess a freedom, or perhaps more aptly innocence she did not” shes talking about people having an orgy in the middle of a social gathering. That makes LITERALLY no sense, or perhaps more aptly an oxymoron.

The vampires aren’t supernatural, they’re just weirdo humans who drink blood. They don’t even have the teeth, they have to get them made and attached. What lame-o’sssssss. Also I was expecting it to be sapphic based on the beginning and it’s not giving sapphic

3.75/5- I don’t remember what confused me back when I read it the first time. Well not true really there’s so many different names for the same people I couldn’t keep it straight so I didn’t know who was who. It’s good, not the best, and it doesn’t deserve 4 stars but I am gonna round up for goodreads

Sometimes the writing is very simple and straightforward and other times the prose is very pretty and whimsical and I’m not sure how I feel about that

I was wrong, I do care about some characters. I think it’s a fascinating concept, but I think its execution is a little lacking. I think it relies a little too heavily on the romance to carry a lot of the weight that comes with such a plot and the emotions it’s supposed to elicit from the audience

I love the concept and the questions it poses, I’m not the biggest fan of the execution though. Also, the characters I have a hard time feeling connected to

A couple of these I’ll have to look up because they literally make no sense to me, specifically “in youth I have known one” the first and last stanza, but the third one is gibberish

I don’t know if I would have realized that the beauty of his work comes from the prose and his ability to develop the characters through their thoughts and actions. This is only dialogue story isn’t really working so well. The only character that pops out is the psycho and his cultural appropriation lmao

You can’t be running tricks on people and also be so dumb you can’t even fathom that the hundreds of thousands of dollars you stole has a tracker in it. I mean that literally doesn’t make sense. You killed a Russian, stole his money, now a Russian is following you…gee I wonder how

I do have another book to read after this cause it’s an audible only one and I didn’t know about it

I love seeing that he’s progressed in his writing ability. This book is good sure but it’s certainly not as good as the most recent 3. Those flow better than this one does
