The walls are closing in

I busted through two detective novels previous to this book soooo quickly and I want to churn through this one at the same tempo but then this guy’s sentences reeeeeeeeel me back hard. Detail packed! Used to throw me off so I was stuck in dull entropy but now I just take my time with it, and thats all there is to Pynchon, just taking the time to freaking chew and digest peacefully

Love it way less crazy than the first volume

Tough reading even tho I’m enjoying it the story the rambling it is delivered by

I’m struggling

The conservatism and the insinuations that rich successful people are also physically attractive and athletic etc are all simply wrong and cringey to behold but idk I’m persevering

Trying to read like 50 books this year and falling behind so thought I’d read some short stuff / some poetry to boost my numbers

Meanwhile this is ***grueling*** as hell haha

Have to read each poem a couple times just to coagulate threads/lines/images/units into particular movements or ideas, and then even then it’s sooo bewildering
