Not the best writing so far, especially coming off from reading The Women, but I’ll push through for now..

Oof, on chapter 11 now. This book is heavy, but so gripping and well written (and well narrated).

Trying out an audiobook for the first time. Let’s see how much I actually absorb of the story and the characters..

Love being thrown back to Westeros even if it is two/three hundred years prior to the ASOIAF story. I’ve been wanting to read this for a long time, so really hoping it doesn’t disappoint.

Ohhh I’m hooked.

Okay I don’t know how I can make myself finish this. This book is riddled with mistakes, it’s like it wasn’t edited or proof read before being published..??

Just finished book 1 in the series, so here's a mini review of it:

The overall pace is quite slow and the plot is moving very slowly, however the characters are really well written and realistic. There's some repetition throughout, though I wonder if that is more just the style of writing, for maximum impact. I still don't really know what the overall book/series is about, but I'm keen to keep reading and find out.

Interesting so far. It’s been a bit of a slow start, especially with new characters and their POVs and then new places, but it’s interesting enough to keep me reading

I was enjoying this book up until this breastfeeding chapter that makes it sound like bf is so traumatic. And yes for many women it can be and is traumatic and painful, but I also think that for many it isn’t like that at all. I think any information about bf vs bottlefeeding needs to be written in an unbiased, factual way that doesn’t make anyone feel bad about the choice they made. Struggling to finish this now

This book’s much more slower paced than the first but still good and interesting so far.

I initially started to read this when I had my first baby but then ended up being too busy to read. Now that I’m actually prioritising reading more, I decided to give this book another go

Going to take a bit of a break from the classics and read this for a change. A few people recommended the series so I’ll give it a go 😊

Ok I initially started this a couple of months ago but life caught up and I essentially stopped reading for a while. I started it again yesterday and now I’m hooked. I love how immersive the writing is.

I’m quarter of the way through the book and we’re already at the 4th character’s POV where there’s a bunch of new characters being introduced and I don’t know if I can keep up..

Initially I was really hooked and found it hard to put down. But then the book became really dense really quickly. There’s different POV characters and each one has its own back story that has kind of just been reiterated and “plot dumped” and I’m really losing track of who’s who, what happened and when and how it’s all related to the beginning of the book. I’m now finding it hard to pick it back up

This is an ARC I just picked up. The first one in a while, and so far, I’m pretty hooked. I’m generally not a fan of swear words, though the language fits the setting and the characters so I can look past them. The narrative voice is great and fits the age of the characters and the prose is captivating. Curious to see what happens with the story.

At times it’s a book that I feel like I can’t put down and at other times the pace slows right down. I recommend readers keep track of who’s who and how they’re connected to each other as they read though. This is especially highly recommended if you’re taking some breaks in between chapters for whatever reason
