Why am I doing this to myself

BREAKING NEWS: FORK FOUND IN KITCHEN
Yes, the Danielewski fanboy (me) likes the new novel so far...

...but how he's gonna stretch this story to take up some 1200 odd pages is beyond me. It's real good so far though, and not too difficult, the greatest challenge of reading it being that I can't take it with me anywhere because it's a massive hardcover that dwarfs nearly every other book I own in size and weight

And you know what, the writing is actually kinda good. Nothing fancy, but really enjoyable

this was €6 and had the tackiest cover imaginable, so you know I had to get it

This is like Blade Runner, except not as self-serious. I like it

I have a different edition, but that one's combined with two other gothic novels, and since I'm reading three different texts, I'm gonna review them separately or at least rate them individually.

Shiveley seems to have a humor that I don't understand, one that relies to a large extent on regaling the reader with trivial details that do not drive the plot forward in any way, nor are these details—and this is key—funny to begin with

Taking my time with this one. Not because it's good. Not because it's bad either. In fact, I'm unsure what to think of it right now.

This one is already awesome (my name is printed in the back because I part-crowd-funded its publication!)

This one really keeps me guessing.

Finally able to read something again, and of course it has to be none of the unfinished books I'm 'currently reading' or those I've dnf'ed but instead a new book. I'll get around to those others... eventually...

I thought I wouldn't commit to another tome after A Little Life. Unfortunately, A Little Life sucked and left my summer-tome-reading-urge utterly unsatisfied. Time to give it another shot, I guess...
