i already know this book is going to be a 5/5 for me. the writing, as i think i’ve already said, is so obscene and morbid while still being flowery and weird and beautifully worded. “beautiful” meaning poppy z brite makes jay sound charming, given everything he stands for (OBVIOUSLY I DO NOT FUCKING CONDONE HIS ACTIONS LOL!!!) i wish i didn’t have a character limit -_- will write more when i finish it.

so far:
the writing is flower and obscene without being obnoxious and gaudy about it. extremely detailed without being boring but just enough to be disgusting to the point where i had to take a break at some points. was super shocked to read such an in depth act of necrophilia in only the first chapter, leaves me wondering what will happen in the next dozen/s.

narrator just used the word “arse” so the book is a lot less interesting now that i know he’s british

mike’s perspective on life is so deathly infatuating. he’s basically patrick bateman but better and more insane in the good way and less woman hating (mike ma respects women). i’m 5% through but after reading harassment architecture i feel like this book will already be better. his diction is unlike any other author’s i’ve ever read, he doesn’t use super ugly cliches or metaphors but actual good ones.
