I put the book down like a week ago and still have no interest in picking it back up. We're basically at the halfway mark, and if it doesn't feel like the story progressed enough for my liking so I just don't care enough to see what happens or how else it drags on.

A F* slur was used on page 2 so im not giving this book any more of my time. Immediately DNF'd and decluttered.

The writing should not be this boring and repetitive this early in the book. I also really don't like the abrupt flipping of POV, making things confusing. There are also no chapter markers. Trying to read this on kindle is very annoying.

I thought the 1st (of 3) story The Diving Pool was underwhelming, and the unnecessary R slur at the end gave me the ick to continue reading, so that's that for me.

Im just not really feeling it, I want to know what happens but not enough to try to get through the rest of the book. I'm just not vibing with the writing style.

I started reading this as a physical copy, read the first chapter, and I just can't get into the writing. I then thought I would give it a 2nd chance by also trying it on audiobook... holy hell, this book has one of the worst narrations I've ever listened to. I listened to chapter 2, and that's enough for me.

I just can't deal with the 9 unnamed children that only go by nicknames. Having to read The Liar, Twin boy, Twin Girl, The Oldest, The One That Runs Away, The Baby, The Crybaby, The Secret Keeper, The Beautiful Voice over and over is so annoying. I just can't be bothered with the rest of the book.

I had really high hopes for this book. With everything that is going on in this book... It should be a page turner for me, but OMG, I'm actually just so bored. I dont know how a book can have so many interesting concepts and be so dull at the same time, lol. I kept forcing myself to read in hopes it picks up, but I'm at 51%, and I regret not DNFing sooner.

omg, this is insufferable. The narrator just goes off on tangents... this reads like one long diary entry with Wikipedia info dumps.

The writing immediately reminds me of SALT GROWS HEAVY, and I really didn't enjoy that book, so I already know I'm not going to vibe with this book. DNFing early so this book doesn't send me into a reading slump.

The premise sounded really interesting, and at first, I was into it, but as I kept reading, it kind of felt like there was a lot of word filler and unnecessary details.When I got to the ENTIRE PAGE filled with the "baby ghost, mommy ghost, daddy ghost" nonsense I got major icks and second hand embarrassment. I tried to read a little more, but it felt like i was really forcing myself and decided "NOPE, IM OUT."

I didn't really love the first few stories. After putting it down, i just didn't have any interest in picking it up again and reading the remaining stories. 

I struggle with short stories because, to me, they often don't give enough, and that's what these felt like to me. I think others would enjoy these more than me.

To me, personally, the audiobook is a little cringe. I can't deal with the different voices done for some of the characters and definitely can't sit throught the next 10+ hours listening to them lmao. I might revisit this book in the near future, either on a physical book or ebook.

I find Millie and Nina to be annoying characters. Also, Millie explaining how much she needs that  job every single chapter has become my own personal Groundhog Day HELL.
