Just finished the First Part: ‘The Part About The Critics”. Thoughts: I feel like Amalfitano is playing The Critics. The Critics are absolutely insufferable with their obsession with Benno Von Archimboldi. Amalfitano’s monologue about Latin American Authors is peak, and is definitely akin to Nicholas Cage’s Monologue “They’re not Real People” in the movie Pig. Mundane so far, but seems like a slow burn.

I think the most surprising thing about Dungeon Crawler Carl isn’t the fact that it’s unexpectedly really good, but just how uncannily similar the narrator sounds like Patrick Warburton… which unfortunately for me, is apparently a pretty common observation….

there is plot in this book, but it’s hard to hear it over your brain constantly thinking “UH-HEY PEETERR” the entire time…

noting that Ganmark’s death made me audibly laugh out loud

also Shivers really been goin’ through it

Friendly shouting “APOLOGIIIZE TO MY FUCKING DICE” after cleaving a man’s head in two for accusing his dice of being loaded is a peak cultural moment

Honestly, unless TEATD Vol. 2 has an earth shattering ending in depicting the Sanguinius vs. Horus duel, then this has probably been one of the most average in this series. Way too much padding and trying to hamfist in new narratives like the whole Dark King thing. I hope I come to reevaluate this in Vol. 3, but at this point in the series I doubt it.

picturing perturabo in an Eric Carmen voice saying “screw you guys, i’m going home” to Horus’ emissary has breathed new life into this book for me

Probably going to DNF this book and look for a summary.

I already am not too crazy about Titan warfare and the stories about the Perpetuals with John Grammaticus already wore out their welcome when they were first introduced in Legion. I genuinely hope this is the last story like this because this is such a dampener to the overall Siege of Terra series and doesn't feel like it advances the story.
