Someone come pick me up I’m scared…

Chapter IV titled “Awakening” was as short as it was beautiful. Hesse’s imagery will use every color in your mind’s palette; Not a single dull line to be found between the leaves.

I’m always delighted to read a chapter a week for class. I wish I took Lit courses more seriously in high school instead of lazily skimming online summaries. Well… better late than never!

The power of promises cannot be understated. I am growing nervous!

The uncontrolled yearning is so very real. Had I read this during the peak of puberty I would have exploded by now. Still, I’m excited to see how the story unfolds from here.

How far into Jane’s life will we get to read? I need to know!!

Love being addressed as “reader” during Jane’s tangents.

Sometimes it feels like I’m reading someone’s diary without their knowledge.

Not sure where this going though.

Adult Jane narrates her childhood mind. Fun perspective! Although her circumstances aren’t very fun. The Reeds and Dursleys would be good friends I think.

Found this line painfully real:

“I sat down and endeavoured to read. I could make no sense of the subject; my own thoughts swam always between me and the page I had usually found fascinating.”

Honestly great so far. I’m reading this for school and I’m so relieved my prof picked this over The Great Gatsby.

Beautiful imagery and interesting ideas. Hmm.
