Just sobbing. One of the hardest books I’ve ever read and it’s 100% the timing. So much to say about hindsight and yet I’m speechless. I am not Coates’s biggest fan and yet I am so grateful to him for this. The essays are excellent, of course (The Case for Reparations is a classic - so happy to revisit) but I can never thank him enough for documenting this time period for us, lest we ever forget.

Omg. The idea that in this timeline Hitler would
be praised for invading Russia for fighting communism and Britain bashed for joining in with the evil forces of communism. 🤯 Really forces you to switch perspectives and I can’t wait to dig in and learn more about whether this was a criticism of FDR at the time by isolationists. So many scary parallels between this book and todays reality. I hate it 😭
