It became too real. Content warning for the book: suicide.

It's like Divergent, but it's better.

I might need to put this book down until I'm in a stronger place. This is a good story; don't get me wrong. I want to figure out what's up with the dreams and how it is they make their way into Lucky's reality. I want to know if the reality of the ants are ever addressed. I'm annoyed by Ginny. She's too much the manic pixie dream girl.

But right now the rest of it is too real.

A.S. King is a spectacular author.

This is so promising.

My family is waking up now and generally being talkative and it's frustrating because this is good.

So far this story screams predictable. I hope it's not. The pool culture references are bugging me, too, but probably because I was strongly encouraged to avoid that in my own writing--and I totally understand why. Still, it's an easy read so far and I kind of need that.

look, ma! a grown-up book!

Sadly, I have to put this one aside for a bit. A student in my class wanted to read it for her reading project, and how am I going to say no to that? I'm not.

So far...I'm not in love. I don't hate it. I stayed up too late last night reading...

But I'm not in love.

I want to be in love.

I should note that this isn't the edition I'm reading but the ARC.

This is not a series for me to read right before bed.

I'm not sure how I feel about a certain trip, but maybe I haven't thought it through. Most things seem to have a purpose in this story. I wish I could buy into Naomi's boyfriend situation, but it never felt right. Maybe that's on purpose, too.

Interesting so far.

Such a smart, original premise. Holy cow.

Seriously wish I had someone to commiserate with.

Much as I loved "Fault in Our Stars," this one beats it. I don't know that you can really compare the two, but this one beats it. The writing style is different, but for whatever reason this one is tougher to read--in a good way.

I love these characters. They're real.

I knew my emotions couldn't take more "if I stay" before falling asleep, so I thought I'd get to this. It's been a cursory read so far--cute.
