I’m trying Ali Hazelwood one last time! I swore I was going to give it a fair shot but idk if I can get past the (supposed) big bad alpha calling someone a “shartstain” 💀 I’m tryin here Ali!! Work with me pls 😭

I think the writing style makes it hard to really connect to the characters. They’re obviously well developed but I don’t feel close to any of them. The first person present tense just distances them from the reader so I feel like I’m more watching this story from a distance than feeling what the characters feel. Not super compelling but I’m still interested in seeing what happens.

I’m loving the magic system & world. The whole concept is super interesting and unique! It’s dark, gothic, and atmospheric. But something just isn’t clicking for me- idk if it’s bc the plot has been sorta predictable so far? Or the characters just aren’t making me feeeel deep enough? I think it’s me so I need to come back to this one another time! I want to love it! It has all the makings for a 5⭐️
