So far, I absolutely love this book! I am off for any book that gives dignity the victims, and this book is such a good job of humanizing. These people that have been made into headlines.

I am in the court scenes and it’s so fascinating

It’s so mind boggling. I think as a criminologist I find the why behind the action interesting and we so OFTEN don’t get that answer. This book humanizes all parties and gives us somewhat of a why so far. I have read it so quickly and desperately am happy to continue even though it’s so tragic.

As a Black American woman living in the UK, this book has been a profound source of connection in an unfamiliar place.l. Lorde’s essays provide a sense of belonging that haven’t found elsewhere. Her reflections on being abroad in Russia resonate deeply, capturing the complex emotions of not fully belonging anywhere. This moment, both sobering and familiar, highlights struggles I face as well.

So I’m currently in chapter 2 and a quote that’s really sticking with me is
"But there are moments when I feel a strange and deep peace in my soul, especially when I’m wandering alone in the wilds."

I actually just yesterday was feeling kind of lonely and so I went into nature and I really love feeling way, because going into the wild and exploring is one of the best things someone can do for themselves.

It’s been an up and down roller coaster but I am really enjoying this book!
