What I had heard about this book does not match up with how the book is. If you took out that the main character is Adam from the Bible, then it's a slow moving heist. Also hung up on the Louisiana house having a basement.

I'm having trouble with the omniscient style of writing in this..

I really want to like this book, but it is so cliche that I feel I've already read it.

99% of this is clothing description. I get the point, but after the chapter that was basically a review for Genises, I lost the curiosity I had for it. It started to become a chore to read.

Feels like it's a slow start. Just got to a point where things should start picking up.

I'm 8 chapters in and feel like nothing has really happened until the end of last chapter. Hoping it picks up now that there's some kind of plot other than Cam is bored. Also hoping that the over detailing unimportant things eases up as well... It makes it feel like he's not in the moment and off somewhere else.

I didn't know the year this was published and thought it was a parody at first with the dialog and how cringey some ideas were. Realized it was published in the 60's, makes more sense.
