wintertime is meant for excessively long russian novels

finally out of my reading rut. this book is right up my alley and it’s written by a psychiatrist. he compares Freud’s atheism against CS Lewis’s atheism turned faith

re-reading this as an adult. he’s such a genius and bestows so much wisdom. you can really see Epictetus’s influence woven throughout it.

liking it so far. denser than his other works but still a fairly easy read. answers the question of why suffering exists if God is good. definitely helping me re-frame my perception of pain in an existential context.

god i love this book. could not have come at a better time in my life. Dostoevsky can comprehend the depths of the human soul better than God himself. he’s a literary genius when it comes to articulating the anguish and suffering of guilt and the pursuit of redemption through love.
