The scene with the dad made me almost forget how much I’ve disliked this book. All dads should read that scene. Dad of the century. I wish the book was about him. I freaking love the relationship Elio has with his parents. We should’ve gotten more of that.

Literally can’t wait for the poet to shut the fuck up.

“a sudden and powerful romance”??? “an experience that will mark them for a lifetime”??? Marked??? Consider me SCARRED. I find myself reading about sticking fingers in assholes and a so-called Italian poet describing Thai people as “…beautiful, but beautiful in a hybrid, crossbred manner,” and “They’re exotic in the purest sense of the word, and yet not alien.” I’m sick of it…I miss Timothée.

Can’t wait to be done so I don’t have to keep reading about how Elio wants to lick toes and stick… never mind. My point is that the movie is far superior and tricked me into thinking that the book would be great as well. It’s well written until things get sexual. Then things get honestly gross.
