The intro was so hard to read I got scared….but it’s picking up now I guess

It took me two months to read the introduction.

Freudian obsession with his mother, embarrassing levels of childhood separation anxiety, boring descriptions of how memory can be jolted by sensory experiences (of course they are, but his writing it as if it’s something absolutely novel and groundbreaking that he has just discovered is annoying at best)

these last few short stories are my favorite actually. Disgusting characters, hurts my stomach - impressive

These last few stories might be my favorite out of the book. Have to appreciate how quickly she is able to paint a picture and get my attention. I’ve been reading it really slow because her characters depress me.

I’ve been so slow to read this because each chapter makes me so so angry and so so sad

Sally Rooney is not a good writer? Why is she so popular? I should start writing I’m serious
