мысли в кучу не собрать, это какой-то микс из ‘аыааыыыааы’ и всякой патетики. тут моя культура, моя страна, мой язык. кажется, я люблю их больше всего, именно когда читаю тексты улицкой. тяжело и грустно, но люблю очень очень сильно

последнее, что прочла, это история ‘потоп’. думала, что предыдущая (‘беглец’) была сильная, но эта заставила меня плакать в метро, так что…🫠

пока это больше похоже на привычные мне рассказы, а не роман с ограниченным числов героев в центре, но я не жалуюсь. за 15-20 страничек она прописывает личность человека и всю его судьбу и это так мощно, как будто прочла роман про него

наконец второй том! эту книгу очень хочется вдохнуть за пару дней, потому что буквально но не оторваться, но её невозможно вынести больше пары десятков страниц за раз. слишком насыщенно, все такое горькое, смешное, полное жизни…

loving it so far for 100% no reason, also it’s the first autobiography (of sorts, i guess that’s what this book is after all) that doesn’t make me want to puke. idk i feel like saying something cheesy like ‘this is not only about running as in being a runner, but also about running a business and even running your whole life’… idk maybe it’ll get boring a bit later, i’ll have to read on and see

even the poem ‘into the breach’ which is kinda based on a sentiment of comparing the totality of some forms of love to a serial killer’s romanticized attitude to his victims, it made me so emotional and despite being a hardcore hater of serial killer stories and their romanticization, i could look past that and get it anyway and find something for myself in it

but they read as super universal because they make me feel things!! and i can easily 1) find relatable things in the author’s biography and the stories he tells, or just 2) use my imagination and feel!

i’ve had this book half read for a couple of months but picked it back up and started from the beginning. it’s such a stark contrast to pablo whose collection i read last. i’m sure it’s just me and my super subjective perception but it hits much harder when there are lots of beautiful original similes and imagery even if the stories are often very autobiographical and not presented as universal

came back here to read the extras, so far so good

“So that You Will Hear Me” is basically Fakeu love😭 I’m liking these a lot so far, and it’s so nice to read the poems in Spanish too, because even though I don’t really understand much, years of being an early Shakira fan prepared me for this. I adore the sound of the language, and the English translations look great

it’s just pure goofiness and lovely feels after the story about charls the merchant leading up to laurent’s coronation, so cute
