Hate this rambly book. Yes, yes, it's a genius interwoven record of all the stupid convos that ppl who doubt God have but THAT'S JUST IT. It's a polemic not a story. It doesn't even finish well.

I don't need to vicariously live through my teen years again.

Furthermore, if you say even one infinitesimal thing against it the entire mob of literary snobs comes out against you and howls in your face. Blech!

Only one issue with a Protestant doctrine book so far. Might be a record.

If you're familiar with Oberman's Tradition I and Tradition II pov, then you don't need this. Actually? I think the only people who need this are prolly happyevangelicals who regularly see the hand of Od working in their lives and then, quite unexpectedly, get into a debate with another branch of Christianity.

Falling in love with Talleyrand first by following his mind, now I get to relax in the entire world of 18-19th century France! Her descriptions and asides are glorious! She's talking about the food and the encyclopedias and the architecture. Off to a phenomenal start. And she's already mentioned Talleyrand! Squeeeee

IT KEEPS GETTING BETTER! This guy was THE GOAT. I'm legit jealous of the foresight of a French statesman who lived 200 years ago. His brain is DELICIOUS! Yummmmmy book! This is freaking delightful. Perfect "I'm procrastinating from the book list that I made to procrastinate on the original book list I have to read" book. Happy days!

So much fun to read in July that I might make this a tradition of sorts. Note to self: read books written by foreigners about the awesomeness of America in July. 2nd note: Pay no attention to grumpy ppl who sneer at your patriotism. Loving your place of birth (while recognizing it could use some work) is lovely. I miss America.
