I don’t know how I can manage to contain both empathy and enragement towards fictionalized characters, but yet here I am!?

Reading this book is making me blissfully want to forgo attending to real life responsibilities… hehe (:

Tragedy after tragedy! ): these characters need some hopeful spurts to occur asap!!

“Maybe the pain of memory is encoded into our bone marrow and each remembered grievance swims in our bloodstream like a hard, black pebble.” EXCUSE ME?!! Such gutterly visceral and metaphorical writing!

This book is quite satirical, which was not in my game card for what this book’s writing style would be, but oh my gosh is it effective! It’s emphasizing the racial commentary even further in this book! Really appreciate this book’s message/way of going about displaying it, so far!

Really multifaceted and narrative flipping novel, so far! (:

I do appreciate main characters who are prominently flawed (like all humans) but contain an impressive amount of introspection, which is Naina! (:

“Growing up is, at heart, the process of learning to take responsibility for whatever happens in your life. To choose growth is to embrace a love that heals.” bell hooks, the feminist and literary icon you are!!

“Loving friendships provide us with a space to experience the joy of community in a relationship where we learn to process all our issues, to cope with differences and conflict while staying connected.” I love this sentiment, and how accurately it reigns true for my perspective on my friendships (:

“Where the will to power is paramount love will be lacking.”

Becoming educated on this Hindu mythological retelling is really lovely! (: The sensual and metaphorical writing is really complimentary to the myth, I feel! My only gripe with this book, at this point, is how hyperbolic the love story (which unfortunately didn’t end up being a lesbian romance like I previously assumed) is. The characters are annoying me, and I’m sad because that makes me less invested with them.

I fear that my time for reading is diminishing, but am enjoying this book when I am actively engaging with it (:

There is already lesbian yearning in this book, and wow is it so tender given the backstory between the two celestial beings!! (:

I’m so sorry, I can’t take a book seriously, specifically a real world romance book, when one of love interest is described to be growling😂

Honestly, the audiobook version of this book is fun to listen to! Plus, the depth is actually deputing more, so so of my prior qualms with this book have diminished! (:

I am sensing that this book has so much potential to go into more emotional and dynamic depth for the two main characters, because if it doesn’t, I fear that these characters will remain quite caricature and not endearingly cringy to me, but just cringy, like to me :/

I’m a simple minded person. I see a somewhat unserious plot line in the description of a rom com book. I pick that piece of literature up (:

The descriptions of friendship and how beautifully life transforming it was for the main character (Lelia) in this book is so heart wrenching and beautiful to read about!!
