The romance part of the book keeps getting waylaid by sexual thoughts being shoved in. Roxie is seeing Mel with sunlight shining in the sunlight and she looks sad and her first though is of Mel’s ass in her Levi jeans. Seriously?

I can feel Chrissy is supposed to be the endgame and I honestly don’t want it. Flashbacks do not show Chrissy in a good light. I know Mia isn’t that reliable of a narrator but I I don’t feel like she’s lying too much about the important stuff of their big moments.

I don’t understand why she’s having kit force herself to kiss a guy instead of having her be gay. Like that’s my first impression with all this is maybe kit isn’t straight and that’s why she finds it hard to want to kiss a guy.

So the only two black/brown characters considered important to the plot die after being shitty…. Hmmm…

What is Laurel’s skin color? What does “dark black” mean? Is she supposed t to be really dark skinned?

So it’s mean for Meg not write about a man having impotence but outing celebrities is totally fine??? I don’t like Meg at all and I fail to see how she’s a good love interest. Especially with the bullshit reasoning of “trying to find someone gay to look up to”.

This book has gone from an interesting book about hierarchy and vampires to how Epiphany is oh so special and different because she likes bdsm. so disappointed. and of course it's another white washed story which holds special irony since the vampires use the underground railroad to get around

For some reason, Jane has decided to vaguely involve woc as if that’s good writing? Lucy’s mom is from a jungle like place and believes in spells done with hair and a wooden house (like african) but it’s never verified. Sylvia is dark like Lucy’s mom and Lucy isn’t even described to biracial in any way outside of dark hair and dark eyes.

She keeps seeing her friend dying but she hasn’t checked on her personally... why not do that to truly know if you’re hallucinating?

As much as I’m enjoying this story, I keep getting confused with who is talking because it wasn’t edited.

They really have her calling herself a rare woman who loves her body while describing her as a stereotypical skinny tall black woman. Like that’s not socially acceptable.
