How have I never read this before? So far, I love it. It is terrifyingly accurate, although I do hate the portrayal of manic pixie dream girl Julia, whose only purpose it seems is to be pleasure and encourage advancement for Winston. I do, however, also appreciate Orwell's exposure of Winston's toxic masculine ideologies.
