Having a hard time getting into this one so going to shelve it for now.

I started this some time ago but wasn't in the right headspace for such a dense book, but I'm ready to give it a proper go this time!

And this is as far as I'm making in through this book.

Abandoning this book for the second time.

Abandoning. I really enjoyed two of Chaim Potok's other novels, but having a hard time getting into this one.

Abandoning this book. I think I've decided that Virginia Woolf is just not for me. I pushed myself through the last two books of hers I read, and I could already tell that this one was heading in the same direction.

Going to abandon this one. It is okay enough I suppose, a bit meh, but there are other fantasy books I would rather read.

Going to abandon this book. I was enjoying this at first, but once the main character started going through old newspapers, books, etc. and just describing and quoting, my eyes started glazing over. I peeked ahead and saw much more of the same, so decided to stop.

I can't quite decide what to make of this book. On one page I find myself utterly uninterested in the characters, but on the next the lush descriptions draw me in. I haven't decided whether or not to finish the book. If I do, I think it is going to be a long journey, and I may pick it up in bits and pieces while reading something else as well.

Going to take a break from this book. Might pick it up again in the future, but I'm just not in the right mood for this at the moment.

This book is an eye opener. I can understand why race relations are where they are today with this kind of awful history preceding it.

Going to stop here, for now anyway.

Have to take a short break on this one. It's due at the library and I need to re-check it out.
