I skip past all the smut and then she talks about how she always regrets sleeping with him because she doesn’t know if they’re on the same page about what their relationship looks like and she feels bad about giving into what she wants. Then just stop sleeping with him! You’re setting yourself up for this!

This stupid book is making me process my stupid grief (it’s a very good book)

The perfect novel

That’s a crazy thing to say after everything 💀

OH MY GOSH this book is so good at teasing something really important and vaguely implying it and I guess it’s supposed to create tension but it’s just so annoying because no one will outright say or do anything of meaning

Pretty decent so far but the author has a tendency to bring in a piece of evidence simply because it’s cool and never tie it in to the argument of the chapter

“…there is a terrible thing happening to you now. You are being asked to kill a part of yourself that would otherwise scream in opposition to injustice. You are being asked to dismantle the machinery of a functioning conscience… Forget pity, forget even the dead if you must, but at least fight against the theft of your soul.”

This is so good. Really deep insight on religion and its place in society and propaganda and an individual’s part in it, and all while having a great cast of insightful and developing characters
