The data in this book genuinely depresses me. The fact that being a woman or a minority equates to a 0.25 GPA point when considering hiring and award decisions. What happens at the intersection? Also, all women of childbearing age are kept from advancement to soften the blow of possible childbirth! Seeing the numbers beside the observations is so helpful. Makes me very angry like how do we fix this ?

I grew up conservative Christian and I always felt that the teachings ruined my self worth. This book elegantly puts into words the inherent misogyny that is found through the Bible and modern Christianity. Also there's so much sexual violence in the Bible.

I spent three hours before bed thinking about what brings me joy and trying to get to the heart of what those things mean to me. I didn't expect it to be so difficult. So much of life is conditioned to do for others but doing for myself I struggle so much.

What do you mean that in hetero relationships men home making contributions have barely changed since they started taking this data? It's not surprising given that a lot of campaigns are focused on women doing everything and not encouraging men to take more of a lead in homemaking. Where is the campaign recruiting me to be better home makers?

Not listening to scientists is not a new phenomenon. It's actually the most historically reliable thing humans do. 🤦🏾‍♀️
