I feel like I’m slowly going crazy

Another book with a weirdly distant and horrible mother figure

Well, I love this book, every time it switches away from Aelin’s perspective I lose interest.

I think I’m supposed to feel something for Julie but she is a horrible person. Every bad thing that has happened to her since her parents died she brought on.

It is so hard to switch out of empire to tower. That being said I’m so happy I’m not reading the entirety of tower after the cliffhanger of empire

Saying at least 18 to get ahead of the whole age gap thing…

I wish there was a list in the back of all of the characters cause right now I’m so fucking confused. They just keep introducing new people.

This is the first book that was on my Book Club options list that I haven’t absolutely fallen over in love with. I think the thought and plot line is very unique, but I am really struggling with the execution and I think the point of view that was chosen is interesting but maybe multiple point of views would’ve been better.

I don’t know how I feel about this so far. I think it’s a really interesting perspective the story is told from. This is not what I thought it would be. There is also some parts that feel very pretentious.

Enjoying this so far. Feels very nostalgic. Definitely miss being a camper

“what if we go on, only to find a horrible end waiting for us? Then it is not the end.” literally 1001 quotable moments in this book. I totally get why this is half of my friends favorite book of the series. I think I still am between this and heir of fire though. I feel like heir really just has that turning point moment.

Do I still hate Chaol? yes, 100%. Do I think that this chapter does a good job in justifying him a little bit? Yes, I do. He was a spoiled petulant child and at times I feel like I can see him realizing that? That being said, I do have to keep reminding myself that he is 24 years old. I am 24 years old. You have to be the adult when you’re hanging out with teenagers.

The more I listen to this Book the more I feel like everything that the author is talking about was a concerted attack rather than a series of coincidences. I don’t know if that’s the authors intent but in the spirit of common conspiracy-theorism I can’t help but see it and start to make my own connections.

As this author talks about the percentages that keep balance it’s very very reminiscent of the tipping point theory from Malcolm Gladwell, and it really reinforces that as a valid and accurate statement.

Three separate goddesses for deaths seems like a lot. Not to mention this has to have some overlap with the three mothers that the witches pray too. Everything seems to come in threes.

I’m really appreciating the way this author walks through his theories but the terminology reminds me a lot of the Franke story where the “therapist” was using CBT terminology to isolate everyone in the family from everyone else and then combining the CBT with the fragility theories and trigger stuff.

I was really locked in in the beginning, but this is definitely starting to feel like a slog. I can relate to a lot of her stuff about wanting to declutter and everything having a purpose, but I definitely got lost when she started talking about her other struggles.

So this whole time that they haven’t had critters in the shell, they’ve just been getting dosed within insane amounts of radiation?

I can picture this movie scene so well. I’m not surprised. Strat is doing this, but also absolutely fucking crazy. Did not see this plot was coming.
