This whole section on college sports is making me so upset. Harvard having a boatload of sports makes complete sense. Harvard has to make a boatload of money from peoples application fees alone. If they can get more people to apply that’s more money in their pocket. If they can radar for niche sports why wouldn’t they? Many sports listed are the old money sports. Fully aligned with mission.

He said chicken pox vaccines prevent shingles and it DOES NOT. That was upsetting. Shingles sucked and I wish I didn’t have a chicken pox vaccine or I couldn’t have gotten shingles

The overprotective of eachother thing is a bit much.

While I think the author does a good job of citing sources, I’m curious about what controls were done for the testing described. As she talks about gifted and talented programs especially, it makes me think of my mom‘s poor rural school. I don’t disagree that there is an inherent disadvantage for Indian and black students based on the authors argument, but how are economic factors considered?

While I get that Patrick did lose someone too, trying to compare the loss of a mom when the kid is 8 years old to loss of a friend at 43 is crazy.

The fact that Allie wrote letters back to him does help the fact that she’s an asshole for getting engaged and then cheating on the engagement. Doesn’t make it perfect, but it definitely helps.

Reading Lons perspective really emphasizes the fact that Allie is a fucking bitch. He really likes her, so much so that he’s getting married to her, and she’s out here cheating

I don’t know that I like this. Allie seems like a bitch. The words written on the dock of “Noah loves Allie” seem like the theme of the book. It’s a one-way street.

The fact that she is going back after spending one summer together is already pissing me off. That simply cannot be enough time to know someone well enough to fall in love with them. Especially after many years and accepting an engagement to another man. Sidenote: I absolutely love Noah’s life, very jealous.

I can’t imagine forcing the person I love to take care of me after I am gone, but my body is still there needing care in the hope that one day there’s a glimmer of the person that’s gone. That seems to be the cruelest thing you could do to someone you love.

Two things as I start this book. I did not know Nicholas Sparks wrote so many other romances; I assume they’re romances by the titles. I really want to find out why the book is called the notebook and if I don’t learn that by the end of the book, I don’t know that I will be pleased.

The fact that she is going to risk her life to save Lydia of all people is crazy. Lydia, who has been evil the whole time, but Lydia, who miraculously saved the shuttle.

A family welcomes you in for Thanksgiving. This is your first time in their home. Obviously the first thing you do is tell them their house smells like mold. Oh Lydia.

Really rich coming from Barbara that she doesn’t want to take Joan’s money because she doesn’t want charity, but yet she married Daniel for the sole purpose that he could provide for her and her kid. Is that not charity?

I don’t like Daniel anymore. Why would you marry a woman with a kid when you don’t like kids? Why would Barbara marry a man who doesn’t like kids when she has a kid? Two not so great people who found each other.

Barbara has neglected her child so much that she feels the need to go to a boarding school to find a place where she feels wanted. That is so fucking sad.

Just when I thought Barbara couldn’t get worse she is sending Frances away to boarding school????

How could Barbara say that Frances isn’t part of her adult life??? I am so thankful for my parents realizing I am a human too and bringing me along. Poor Frances has had everything in her life change and her mother is a bitch.

I love Daniel! Taking Barbara to the other room instead of having the convo in an embarrassing way *chefs kiss*. And then to defend Joan against Barbara when no one has in her entire life other than Vanessa??? I hate Barbara, but Daniel is amazing
