rereading this bc i love dana scully

i’m allowed to listen to audiobooks at work so i’m listening to some that i’ve read before and wanted to revisit while i’m not confident enough to both work and take in new information

i feel like i’ve been listening to this audiobook for ten years

this feels like it should be the climax of the book but it’s not even the halfway point. i’m so tired and this pacing is Bad

is this a “good” book. maybe not. but am i enjoying the experience of reading it? well. yes.

this reads like fanfiction and i’m eating it up (to be fair i do also think it’s hard for a tv show novel, especially a YA one, to not read like fanfiction since that is. essentially what it is - that said this author understands fox mulder in the exact way that i do so again, eating it up)

“How have we never met before?’ they asked again and again, but what they were really saying was, ‘how have I only just begun to love you?’” this line really got me

The framing of this and the different POVs is already so good goddamn

reading for 30 minutes before bed is all fun and games until it’s accidentally been two hours

i picked this up for the weird space alien stuff but i didn’t expect to appreciate the unapologetic sexuality of it

it is taking a tremendous amount of self restraint to pause this and not stay up until 3am to finish it

whatever my actual rating ends up being im going to knock a star off of it for the william darcy slander. smh my head

i’ve been waiting for this!!!

i have already decided it’s okay if this book of the month trails into december since decembers book is a children’s book and november is so busy

i think reading this so slowly has actually helped me conceptualize how long this story takes place over bc i feel like that’s something i was really missing in the first two

yes i kind of hated icebreaker yes im back for more yes im a masochist yes im already reading too many books

wow i do not usually cry this early in books but the end of chapter 5 really got me

i am once again starting another book when i shouldn’t because i had a library hold that i forgot about

picked up a physical copy from the library and it’s very nice to actually see how far i am in the book with my eyes

almost cried in the break room bc i miss kelsier too

jessie understands me on a fundamental level bc when i was in my first year of high school i helped the girl behind me in algebra 1 cheat all year bc i thought she was cute and nice

ignore how many things im actively reading. ignore them!

i really enjoy the differences in elend and vin’s fighting - i can really see where vin moves off of instinct but elend moves logically
