so so good yaa gyasi has to be one of my fav authors now bcz transcendant kingdom was one of the best books I read in awhile too

at first I didn't love the format because sometimes I feel like I can't get immersed w generational stories but it got so good and tells history so incredibly

honestly took a sec to get into and the style of writing but I loved this book. I honestly did not know much about the Vietnam war or vietnams history as a whole and this was such a good (and sad) read.

I was so hooked towards the middle omg so I sped through it after that

this book has been on my tbr for so long so I was so excited to read it. the writing was beautiful but I feel like it left so much unfinished and like we had to explore the characters feelings ourselves instead of with them. I wish the author had expanded a bit more esp bcz the end felt kind of rushed and strange.

still enjoyable though and definitely had some great quotes and moments

enjoyed this quite a bit!! a short and heartwarming read and marginally relatable as well

we have the same last name too + both canto and canadian so loving some good rep 😛😛

honestly incredible the writing was so beautiful and I felt like my heart was being grasped the whole time I actually felt so devastated while reading this and was close to tears a few times

I finally finished this book I started it in january bro 😭😭

this is the goofiest and most confusing and concerning book ever I was so perplexed and it was SO weird throughout and the storyline was so all over the place

tbh it did keep me hooked but it was just so confusing

very good book I was so hooked all throughout. the actual storyline of tirzah and harrison was the best part and the stuff towards the end felt kind of detached but I loved the ending anyway

one of the parts is how her dad keeps watching the news every morning and she's like ugh idk why journalists keep covering this it's all about corrupt politicians that we can't do anything about. not a fan of this character at all

I also get the inkling she isn't gonna really grow so

incredible -- the latter part wasnt what I was expecting and I honestly maybe would've liked something a little different but I think that the story was incredible and very well written

backmans special talent is making you fall in love w every single character

I need to put the book down sometimes bcz I know it's going to be so heartbreaking soon but the moment hasn't arrived yet

he has such a distinct writing style I love it

very good -- her books always feel kind of long and some sentences feel unnecessary but I think that's mainly because I'm so used to hearing the characters just speak and sometimes their thoughts

but I think I've realized her books really reflect the way each person thinks about the world and their personality is shown in so many different ways

my favourite book of the series for sure -- there was so much to it

the way the author intertwines the stories is so well done omg it's all so like perfectly coming together

honestly very very gripping and I'm starting to really appreciate the little details the author puts into narrating the different characters' thoughts
