was in a bit of a reading slump for a few days there but we’re back on our fairy tale grind now. realizing tonally this reminds me a lot of the half upon a time trilogy i devoured as a kid

goodreads being weird ignore my 7000 updates and unupdates on this i’m finished it this morning but it wasn’t counting towards my goal for some reason?

okay yes thus far extremely lol quirky xd vibes but also incredibly up my alley. author (this far) CLEARLY knows traditional fairy tales and their formats and i’m kinda eating it up

mom left a few books behind after her recent visit and this was one and it looks enough like something i’d pick up so i’m starting it but it’s not really exciting me so far. baby plots aren’t necessarily for me but we shall see

every time i start to get mad, the author comes back in with a ‘yeah but here are the flaws in the argument i’m presenting’ hitting me with the reminder of how research papers (books) work and that you have to discuss the WHOLE thing before making your point lol. anyway. still very strong so far

continuing my practice of only reading feminist literature in the break room at work and so far this is not only topical (and MORE fun to respond with when a coworker asks what i’m reading), but also requires far more intellectual rigor than the story-based nonfiction i read prior. which actually makes me far more alert, and is soooooo exciting for little old me, someone who misses her g&ws classes immensely
